Lisa Weiner is a Marriage and family Therapist in Beverly Hills, California. Currently Lisa works with individuals, couples, and families with a variety of treatment needs. Areas of treatment include relationship counseling with couples, substance abuse and addiction treatment, stress management, anxiety, depression, career development, parenting, self–esteem, and eating disorders. The ultimate goal in Lisa’s work with clients is to create a safe environment where individuals can explore and uncover their emotional blocks and heal past wounds. Most often Lisa uses a psychodynamic approach while also focusing on empowering her clients to be in charge of their own discoveries.
Lisa graduated with her Masters in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Applied Community Psychology. Currently, Lisa is attending Pacifica Graduate Institute and will earn her Ph.D in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology. Lisa earned a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Southern California.
In addition to her work in private practice, Lisa has facilitated numerous workshops at schools in the Los Angeles area for adolescents with topics ranging from Body image, Bullying, Eating Disorders, Media and Self-Esteem, Parent-teen relationships and substance abuse prevention.
In addition to her studies, Lisa has trained in Psychodrama, Drama Therapy, and Group Psychotherapy for the past several years and will soon be certified as a practitioner of these action-oriented, creative therapy techniques. Specializing in Applied Community Psychology enhanced her knowledge in how to integrate therapy and healing within specific communities and for diverse cultures.
Lisa received full time training at a residential rehabilitation program that provides services for individuals and families afflicted with addiction and behavior disorders. Lisa had the opportunity to treat clients suffering from addiction both individually as well as in group settings. After a few months, Lisa became involved in rehab center’s Adolescent Drug/Alcohol Prevention Program. This gave her the opportunity to attend numerous schools throughout the Los Angeles area implementing this program in various communities and working with adolescent groups ranging from twelve to eighteen years old, running several parent/family groups, as well as training educators in how to implement such a program into their curriculum.
Lisa’s goal is to help facilitate people through the emotional stressors of everyday life as well as help people to recover from childhood wounds. Lisa believes that through the process of developing insight and willingness for change, her clients will be able to actualize their potential and apply powerful coping skills to face whatever challenges life presents.
